Skills Seminar Series Launched

On Fridays during May and June, The Gray House Adult Education Program has scheduled its Skills Seminar Series. The series is devoted to literacy skills in finance, law, health, computing and nutrition. At these seminars, presenters from several community service agencies will acquaint participants with the services they offer, answer participant questions, and provide referrals for that assistance.

Friday, May 10, The Gray House Adult Education Program held the first seminar of the series in Finance. Emil Farjo, Financial Coach of the THRIVE program, United Way of Pioneer Valley in Springfield explained budgeting, the basics of banking, an introduction to credit, and financial coaching. All of the participants signed up for mentoring/coaching services with THRIVE at the end of the presentation.

For the Friday, May 17 Legal Seminar, presenters from Community Legal Aid (CLA) and the Central West Justice Center (CWJC) will explain their services and participants will learn how to use an online tool to identify available legal resources statewide, including self-help materials, legal aid organizations (like CLA and CWJC), and other programs in the community. Legal Flyer
