The Gray House Welcomes New Adult Education Coordinator

Michelle Morgan

The Gray House is excited to welcome Michelle Morgan as our new Adult Education Coordinator. In this role, Michelle will lead our efforts to provide English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), literacy, life skills, and other basic educational instruction to Springfield’s community of migrants, refugees, and asylees.

“We are delighted to welcome Michelle to The Gray House team as the new Adult Education Coordinator. Her extensive experience, passion for lifelong learning, and deep commitment to the community make her the ideal individual to head our Adult Education program. As a lifetime resident of the greater Springfield area, Michelle brings with her a unique understanding of our diverse community, and is poised to do her part in helping our neighbors meet their full potential,” said Gray House Executive Director, Kristen McClintock.

Michelle has a master’s degree in education from Lesley University, a Bachelor of Arts in social sciences with a minor in social work from Westfield State University, as well as her TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate. In addition to her new role at The Gray House, Michelle also serves as an ESOL instructor and program manager for the West Springfield Public Library.

Michelle found her passion teaching ESOL when she volunteered with the Gray House Adult Education program in 2016. It was at this time that she pivoted her career from working with youth as a teacher in the public schools to focusing on adult learning.

“As a former Gray House volunteer tutor, it is a privilege and an honor to be the newest member of the Gray House. I pledge to work with the team to offer quality programs and services to the Springfield community,” said Michelle Morgan. The Gray House has provided adult education services since its inception in 1985. Over the years, these offerings have adapted to meet the ever-changing needs of those served. As the Adult Education Coordinator, Michelle will tailor the program offerings to address the community’s current needs.
