In 2015, The Gray House raised over $12,600 through our Fill the Plate Challenge! It was imperative for us to raise this money in order to receive a $10,000 matching grant through United Way and because of your generosity, we did it!
This fundraising initiative which encourages individuals and businesses to donate and take photos with empty plates has become an annual campaign. The empty plates represent all of the families that would go hungry without your support. In 2017, we set a goal to raise $20,000 between September 1-30 and we exceeded this goal!
The money raised through this initiative is leveraged to provide people in our community with much needed groceries.
Food insecurity is an issue that over 223,000 individuals in Western Mass face. The Gray House is committed to addressing this issue by providing households with nutritious groceries. On average, 80-120 families receive assistance each week. This critical service is a first step in helping people improve their ability to resolve crises and achieve and maintain a more stable situation. Food assistance allows families to reallocate their limited funds to other expenses that impact their ability to maintain a job or housing such as rent, transportation, utility bills, childcare and healthcare expenses.
Thank you to everyone who donated to help us #FillThePlate!
