The Gray House brings Christmas Joy to 785 Children
785 children received wish list items that they asked for this Christmas! Children from low-income families across the Greater Springfield community were able to open gifts this Christmas thanks to the generosity of our community. Each child received about $50 worth of gifts, and not just any random gifts, gifts that they specifically asked for! Businesses, families and individuals stepped up by “adopting a child” or by hosting a toy drive to ensure that we could fill all of the wish lists we received. Volunteers helped to unload and sort toys that came in from gift drives and then went “shopping” from the toys brought in, picking out the perfect item for each individual child.
Our community elementary and middle schools along with family shelters assisted us in getting each child’s wish list items and helping to deliver the gifts to each family. Any remaining gifts were given to the shelters to use throughout the year as new families come in to help the children adjust and feel welcomed. Thank you to everyone who made this year a success!
